Frances M. Bailey (Krupp Smith) "Granny", age 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 in her home at Town Village retirement community with hospice, following a short illness of pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by her loved ones. Frances was born in Ft. Smith, Arkansas on November 23, 1926. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Bailey; daughter, Nancy Jo Self; brother, Bill Smith; mother, Virginia 'Gigi' Hall; father, Howard Smith; and step-father, Val Hall. Survivors include brother, Gerald Smith and wife Carleeta; sister, Diana Kinzey; daughters, Elizabeth Austin and Nora Kaven; grandsons, Christopher Self, Les Mitchell and wife Melissa, & Geoff Kaven; great-grandchildren, Taylor Self and wife Samantha, Connor Self, Kaleb Kaven, Kaelyn Kaven, Lucas Mitchell & Mia Mitchell; and her many, many friends and relatives across the country. She attended school in Shawnee, OK. Frances lived in Southern California almost 20 years. She and her 3 daughters moved to Edmond, OK where she owned several businesses to support her children. Frances was an avid reader, enjoyed painting, especially watercolor, played bridge weekly with many friends, and kept her mind sharp with daily crossword puzzles and other brain teasers. But most importantly, she loved to dress and accessorize. Entertaining was a passion for her throughout her life. Frances enjoyed a very vigorous and healthy life with the exception of breast cancer in 1988 and gall bladder surgery in 2014. Frances was a devoted longtime member of Linwood United Methodist Church at 3034 NW 17th St., OKC 73107, where services will be held on Monday, October 8 at 10 a.m. followed by a luncheon. Burial will be held later that day in Prague, OK. Viewing will be Sunday, October 7 from 11am to 9pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral home at 3925 N. Asbury Ave, Bethany. Her family wishes to thank Crossroads Hospice for their support in her final days. In lieu of flowers, give donations to American Breast Cancer Society or Linwood United Methodist Church.
