Floye Boutwell passed away at the age of 89 at the Forest Glade Retirement Center in Bethany, Oklahoma, on Friday, April 1, 2016. She was born on July 18, 1926 in Byers, Oklahoma, to Charles Marion and Gertrude Mae (Pierce) Grider. She married Earl Vernon Boutwell at the age of 16 and this union lasted until his death on January 2, 1984.
Floye was preceded in death by her husband, Earl V. Boutwell; her parents, Charles and Gertrude Grider; her infant twin sister, Fay Grider and infant sister, Cecil Mae Grider; sisters, Lucille New, Nora Davis and Lois Acuff; brothers, Leonard Grider and Dan Grider.
Floye is survived by her two daughters, Darla J. Head of Yukon, OK and Darlene A. Owens of Edmond, OK; their husbands who she considered sons, Harold L. Head and Leland Ray Owens, Sr.; two grandchildren that rocked her world, Tammy J. Loula and Leland Ray Owens, Jr.; two great grandchildren that she adored, Tyler L. Loula and Alyssa B. Owens; and one sister, Eula C. Wilcox of Byers, OK, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Floye loved to play solitaire on the computer, watch baseball, and watch her favorite television program "Wheel of Fortune". She loved poetry and she wrote a lot of poetry. She loved to read everything; the newspaper from the front cover to the back, novels, and crime mysteries. She loved to listen to gospel and country music; she would leave her radio playing day and night.
She was a great wife, mother and grandmother. She was a Christian and inspired her faith in God to both of her daughters.
Family visitation will be Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service from 8am-9:30am. Graveside service will be Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 10:00am in Bethany Cemetery, N. W. 63rd and Rockwell, Bethany, OK.
