Obituary

Florence Stice passed away on January 16th at the age of 88. She was born in October 1, 1930 in El Reno, OK to Herbert and Aline Beemblossom and lived on South L Street. She attended Webster Elementary school and El Reno Junior High. She graduated near the top of her class from El Reno High School in 1950 where she studied mathematics and art. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Year Book Staff and Pep Club. Beginning in 1946, she worked for Bourne Drug Store at the soda fountain for the summer. Then she continued to work after school each day, on the weekends, and summers at Schooling Drug Store soda fountain for the next 4 years during High School. She moved to OKC in 1950 and lived at the YWCA while attending Hills Business College in the fall. Beginning in April of 1951, she worked at GMAC figuring car loans by hand and doing the calculations in her head for the next 15 years. Florence met her husband Marvin in 1951 and they married on Thanksgiving Day of that year. They had 2 daughters, Diana and Myra. They built their home in 1957 and bought lots at Lake Eufaula in 1967 to have a "lake place." In 1966, Florence started her home business as a professional seamstress for the next 21 years. She made Wedding Dresses, Brides Maid Dresses, Formals, Easter Dresses, Choir Dresses, Ladies Business Suits, Pants and Shirts, Mens and Childrens Clothes. She also did alterations. For 4 years from 1970 to 1974, she was the Assistant Leader of Myras Camp Fire Girls group of 8 girls. She had a large garden and a green thumb, growing everything including strawberries, tomatoes, green peppers, yellow squash, zucchini, onions, okra and sunflowers. She was well known for her excellent cooking including cakes, pies, cookies and candy. She was also known for being able to figure out and accomplish any "do it yourself" project from concrete to carpentry. Florence and Marvin both retired in 1987 to travel more and enjoy their lake place at Lake Eufaula, spending up to 6 months of the year there. They traveled to many places in the U.S. including Hawaii. They also enjoyed musicals and the symphony. Florence and Marvin were married for 67 years and celebrated their Anniversary with family which fell on Thanksgiving Day again last November. A special thank you to the wonderful caregivers and family at Bellevue Health & Rehab since last September and Centennial Hospice during her last week. You took good care of Flo, made her comfortable and we thank you so very much. She is survived by her husband Marvin, daughters Myra Woodside and Diana Riggs, and son-in-law Haden Riggs. She is also survived by Nephews Bruce Albro and Frank Albro; Great Nephews Rich Albro, Coby Albro, Scot Albro, Jason Albro, Tim Albro and Derek Albro; and Cousin Jim Neville who will be pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearer is Cousin Butch Albro. She is preceded in death by her sisters Margie Graham and Marian Beemblossom, and by her parents Aline and Herbert Beemblossom. Viewing will be 3pm-8pm on Friday, January 25th at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service in Bethany, OK. Services will be 2pm Saturday January 26th at Mercer-Adams with interment following in Rose Hill Cemetery.
