Everett W. Thurber, 90, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away January 29, 2009. He was born October 22, 1918 in Burlington, Colorado to Milo and Lovica (Wynn) Thurber. He was a proud WWII Veteran who fought in the Battle of the Bulge, receiving 5 bronze stars for battles and campaigns in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe. He retired as Superintendent of Scharlach & French and was a member of Carpenters Union 329 and American Legion Post 12. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen; son Warren and wife Lecia; daughter Linda Dobbs and husband Carroll; grandchildren John and wife Beth, Lisa and boyfriend Trevor Smith, Michael and wife Carissa, and Chris; sister Delma McNulty; and many special nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Carters staff, especially Shannon, Ronnie and Danny. Graveside services will be Wednesday, February 4, 1:00 p.m. in Resurrection Cemetery. Viewing will be Sunday, noon-9pm, Monday & Tuesday 9-9 at Mercer-Adams. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Everetts name to Carters Hospice, 3105 S. Meridian, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73119.
