Obituary

Everett Lee Gandy passed away peacefully in his home in Bethany, Oklahoma on June 1, 2021. Everett was born in Temple, Oklahoma to his parents, Elmer and Lois Gandy. He graduated from Bethany High School with many people who remained his friends until the time of his passing. Everett worked with his father, Elmer and Uncle, Andy Smith in construction throughout high school, learning the skills he has used for a lifetime as a carpenter. These skills enabled him to travel the country building Pizza Huts with his wife, Debbi, his sons, Alan and Stirling, and daughter, LeeAnn. He generously passed along this knowledge to many young men who have benefitted by learning a lifetime trade. Everett loved being at the lake with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and enjoyed boating, skiing, tubing and riding 3-wheelers from early morning to late afternoon. His time and attention to his family at the lake has given each of us a lifetime of fond memories and an indelible impression for his love of life and generosity to us all. These memories make up the fabric of many generations of our family. In his younger years, he went deer hunting and camping with his high school buddies, loved watching baseball, girls softball, and old westerns on television. Listening to country music was another of his favorite pastimes one that caused us great embarrassment as teenagers! You could set your watch by his scheduled mealtimes, and he was always the first in line for food at any family gathering getting in front of him wasnt even possible! His signature train conductors hat with striped overalls, topped off with a red flannel shirt, red bandanna and cowboy boots were unmistakably "E. L.Gandy." One never had to ask, "Who is that" His "uniform" was immediately recognizable. It was only a few short months ago that he stopped riding four-wheelers with his many friends the last several trips were accompanied by his portable oxygen! He continued to work building cabinets for friends and family until very recently and always found the time for his beloved children and grandchildren in spite of his failing health. Everett was preceded in death by Deborah Gandy, his loving wife of 40 years; his parents, Elmer and Lois Gandy; his sister, Marie Coody and her husband, Darywn Coody; and stepson, Steven Schmidt. He is survived by his daughters, LeeAnn Day of San Francisco, California, Susan Geye of Fort Worth, Texas; his sons, Alan Gandy of Alamo, Texas and Stirling Gandy of Bethany Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Royce Martin, Rexine Connor, Clinton Gandy, Amber Leyba, Stephanie Davis, and Houston and Delana Gandy; his great-grandchildren, Hayden, Olivia, and Sophia Martin, Dylan, Clyde, and Lincoln Leyba, Jameson Connor, and Brixley Davis; and his brother, William Gandy and his wife Mariglynn. Everett leaves many other loved ones and friends. This one-of-a-kind and most unique individual will be missed by all those who loved him. Services will be Saturday, June 5, 10:00am at Mercer-Adams Chapel. The service will be live streamed and available to watch on this obituary page. .
