Evelyn Josephine Wilkerson Sims went to be with the Lord on May 23rd, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Grady Sims II, sons, Carl Lee Sims and Paul Michael Sims, sisters, Lillie Mae and Vivian Kaiser, brother, Paul Wilkerson, son-in-law, Johnny Fowler II, and daughter-in-law, Peggy Sims. Her greatest love and accomplishments were children. In 1952, she opened and operated Sims Daycare & Preschool until 2006. Regardless of racism, religion, age or economic issues during those times, there was never a child she turned away. She is survived by Joe G. Sims III, Carla Sims Fowler, 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren. Services will be held Wednesday, May 30th, 11:00am at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
