Evelyn Jane McElvany, 94, died November 13, 2016. She was born July 7, 1922 in Shawnee, OK to Otto and Kathryn (Fox) Barnwell. Amongst her many jobs, she was a switchboard operator, a secretary and Registrar at many Oklahoma public schools, and worked at Tinker during WWII. She and her husband owned and operated Mayfair Cleaners for over 40 years. Evelyn enjoyed traveling, being a prayer partner at TBN, and taking pride in caring for her family and home. She loved gospel music and singing with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Ed. Survivors include her son, Steve McElvany; daughter, Eddy Jane McElvany; granddaughter, Sarah Jane McElvany; brother, Clayton Barnwell; nieces, Vicki, Kathy and Trudy; and nephews, Gary, Craig, Ross and Kirk. Viewing will be Wednesday, 10am-9pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be Thursday, November 17, 2:00pm at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery.
