Evelyn Gianfilippo of Oklahoma City, OK passed away March 20, 2021 at age 91. She was born to Archie and Maggie Cogburn on April 23, 1929 in Coal County, Oklahoma. She graduated from Centrahoma High School in 1941.
Evelyn came from a big farm family of twelve children. In her youth she worked very hard as most families did during the depression and WWII. She knew of hardships, hard work and the strength of family and faith.
After graduation, Evelyn moved to OKC to begin her adult life. She worked at Southwestern Bell as a switchboard operator. She made many friends and met the love of her life, Dominic Gianfilippo. She would always say of him, "He was so handsome!" She embraced his Italian family and they were married April 12, 1952. Following that, Debra, Gary, Jerry, and Gina were born. Evelyn and Dominic were married for 64 years.
Evelyn was a very loving and caring mother and grandmother. She was the rock of her childrens lives. Together with Dominic, they gave their children the best foundation. She enjoyed sewing, home decorating, camping with family, and traveling. She was active in Home Community Education (HCE) and was President for four years. She worked at Jamestown Home Furnishings for 25+ years as a sales rep and loved her job.
She is survived by daughters, Debbie Gutowsky (Jerry), Gina Schmidt (Andy); sons, Gary Gianfilippo (Sherril) and Jerry Gianfilippo. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Heather Capri, Kristin Gutowsky, Trevor and Laura Gianfilippo, Kinsey Thomas, Kamber and Kalie Gianfilippo, Halie, Sicelia, and Tyler Schmidt. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Ava, Porter, and Gracyn Capri, Gianna Gutowsky and Eliza Thomas; and two sisters, Jo Shepard, and Maxine Morrison. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dominic, her parents, Archie and Maggie Cogburn, five sisters and four brothers.
