Obituary

I was born July 2, 1921, on my dads farm near Neosho, Missouri and named Evelyn Francis Bean. I was probably a surprise as my two sisters, Ruth and Lola, were 14 and 12 when I was born! We had a baby brother, Thad, who died as an infant seven years before I was born. My sisters were not too happy when I arrived on the 2nd because they thought they would miss the 4th of July celebration, but they didnt. Dad took them in the buggy or horse drawn wagon. I dont know when the Model T Ford came out, but they didnt have one until I was 4 or 5. I told my grandchildren that I walked a mile to catch the school bus from the time I began school in a 1-room school house through high school, but they didnt believe me. I met Clif at a skating rink in Neosho, and we married in 1941. Just before WW II broke out Janice was born. We moved to California where Clif worked in the ship yard on Catalina Island. We lived in Wilmington and both Steve and Sally were born in San Pedro. After the war we came to Oklahoma City where my sister, Ruth, lived. Jon was born in the old Mercy Hospital. Clif and I were married for 50 years before he died in 1991. I never thought I would marry again, but I met Walter through my granddaughter, Stephanie, and we were married in 1997. Walter died in 2002. I was raised with two of my nephews, Gene and Jack Clanton. Jack and I are the last of the Bean family. I credit my longevity to eating pork and chocolate every day. Each Christmas I made several batches of fudge to share with friends and family. I enjoy gardening, reading, shopping, embroidering and Word Find puzzles. I was called Plunny, instead of Grandma or Granny. Plunny was a derivation of Sugar Plum which my mother called me as an endearment. I had 4 children, 16 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren. I love them all dearly. Funeral Service Monday, February 19, 2018 10:00 AM Mercer-Adams Chapel 3925 N.
