Evalyn Smith of Bethany, Oklahoma, 97, went to her heavenly home on March 15, 2018 with family and hospice at her bedside. She was born in Mountain View, Oklahoma to W.I. and Flossie George who preceded her in death. She married the love of her life, Calvan. They were married for 62 years. They had four children: Ron, Bill, Rose and Susie. The family moved to Oklahoma City in 1950. Evalyn retired from Western Electric where she worked for 22 years. She and Calvan enjoyed many years of retirement traveling, getting together with friends, and spending time at Warr Acres senior citizens center. She learned to paint at age 70 and painted many beautiful pictures that she left to her family. She also got her drivers license at age 70. Evalyn was a devoted member of Cherokee Hills Church of Christ. She was a woman of great faith, a devoted wife and mother, and was loved by everyone who knew her. She was preceded in death by husband, Calvan, sons, Ron and Bill, two sisters, and a nephew. She leaves behind daughter, Rose Renner and son-in-law Robert of Oklahoma City; daughter, Susie Mattern and son-in-law Steve of Mustang; daughter-in-law, Carrol Ann Smith of Austin, Texas; eight grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
