Eva Lou Stranathan was born on September 16, 1922, in Gaylord, Kansas. She was predeceased by her parents, Blaine and Celia (Hagadorn) Stranathan, brothers, Glen Stranathan and Raymond Stranathan, a sister, Lucille Stranathan Peyton, and a nephew, Gene Peyton.
She is survived by her great-nephews, Eric Gene Peyton of Bethany, Darin Dean Peyton and wife Casey of Oklahoma City; great-great nephew and great-great niece, Sage Peyton and Rain Peyton of Oklahoma City. She is also survived by her wonderful friend and care-giver, Jamie Anglin, of the home.
Eva Lou worked at Connies Prescription Shop, an early Oklahoma City institution. She also worked for Bowman-Shelton Orthopedics.
Eva Lou lived to fish. She would rather be at the lake than anywhere. She considered a day spent at the lake a wonderful day even if there was no catch.
She was an amateur inventor, creating gadgets such as her unique doorbell and a device that sounded a smoke alarm to signal that she had a bite on any one of five fishing lines.
A huge OU football fan, she was very annoyed by her inability to stay awake for more than 10 minutes of the game during her recent illness.
She was a comedienne extraordinaire. She always had a quip or humorous comment for any situation.
She always exhibited a positive attitude, mentioning many times in recent days how fortunate she had been and how grateful she was for the many years of good health that she enjoyed prior to becoming ill 10 months ago.
She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and great neighbors.
Graveside services will be Monday, October 25, 10:00 a.m. in Bethany Cemetery.
