Obituary

Eugene Harrison Brown, devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away Jan. 10, 2018, at the age of 92. He was part of the greatest generation that made our country great, blessed us and made us proud. He was born and raised in Oklahoma City, OK to Barney, Sr. & Dema Brown, May 2, 1925. He served proudly and with honor in the United States Army 35th infantry division, Company B, receiving the good conduct medal and Bronze Star and later in the Army Reserve retiring as a 2nd Lieutenant. He then attended Oklahoma A&M earning a degree in animal husbandry, and joined the Sigma Nu fraternity. It was there he met the love of his life, Elizabeth Ann Brewer. They were married Dec. 8, 1950 and were inseparable until her death in 2009. After college he joined his father and brother Barney, Jr. in the wholesale petroleum business. He later branched off on his own to form Brown and Sons. Having been blessed with a long, healthy life, Eugene was happiest spending time with his family and helping others. His glass was always half full, and would reach out and help anybody at any time. He always had a kind word to say about everyone. He was proud to be an Oklahoman and loved Oklahoma City. He was involved in the Boy Scouts, the Methodist church and anything else that could make a difference to people in Oklahoma. He leaves behind 3 sons, Mike & wife Betsy Brown, Pat Brown, and Andrew & wife Jennifer Brown. He was known as Popo to his 6 grandchildren, Audrey, Lindsay, Erin, Spencer, Colin and Quinlan; and 4 great-grandchildren, Makenzie Barfield, Ava Barfield, Everley Brown, and Charlene Parker.
