Obituary

Ethel Juanita "Nita" Boggs Kinnard McCay was born April 10, 1930 in Fort Cobb, OK to Claude and Elsie Boggs. Soon after, due to the deaths of her parents, Nita was adopted by Robert and Lula Kinnard. They raised her on a farm outside Apache, OK and graduated from the high school in Broxton, OK. On September 1, 1948 Nita married Larry Keith McCay. They made Wichita Falls, TX their home for the first several years of their marriage and then moved to Bethany, OK in the 1950s, which has been her home since. She worked at Larsons music store in the early part of her career. She then went on to work at Deaconess Hospital as Admissions Director until she helped start the Chaplains department at Childrens Hospital in the mid 1970s. It was there where she finished her career professionally after 23 years. Nita loved music. She played piano for churches, revivals, and groups and loved being part of a choir. She even played the accordion. Helping people was her specialty. She was a listener. Never met a stranger. She was the epitome of kindness. What describes her best just might be Mom. She raised 6 kids of her own and there were plenty along the way who she helped raise or house, and many others who considered her their 2nd mom. 11 years to the day after Larry McCay died, Nitas life, too, came to an end on July 17, 2017 at the young age of 87. She came into the arms of her mother temporarily at birth and into the arms of her Father eternally in death. She was preceded in death by her parents and adopted parents, her husband, Larry McCay after 58 years together, her daughter, Karen Lou McCay, her son, Robert Oney McCay, and 11 brothers and sisters. She leaves behind a son, Larry Keith McCay, Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Montrose, CO; a daughter, Rita Yvonne Fletcher and her husband Doug of Riverton, KS; a son, Leonard Ray McCay and his wife Melinda of Canyon, TX; a daughter, Grace Melanie Ann McCay of Bethany, OK; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and many, many friends. Services will be at Westside Christian Church on Thursday, July 20, at 2:00 PM. Graveside service will be in Apache, OK at Fairview Cemetery on Friday, July 21, at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers you may send a memorial gift to Valir Hospice or Westside Christian Church.
