Obituary

While out for an ordinary Saturday run with his wife, Eric King crossed over into Heaven and met his Savior. He loved running and competed in two marathons and numerous half marathons. Eric Stephen King was born December 27, 1974 in Painesville, Ohio to Stephen and Regina (Coomer) King. As a child, he lived in Tampa, Florida and Memphis, Tennessee before moving to Lewisville, Texas where he graduated from Marcus High School in 1993. A basketball scholarship led Eric to Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Okla., and he earned a bachelor of arts degree in mass communication-public relations. He met the love of his life, Jill Hulsey, at SNU. They married June 21, 1997 and have three daughters, Peyton, Kaylen and Emerson. Throughout life, Eric made time to date his wife and he was intentional with his time, conversations and actions. Erics family believes he was the ultimate provider who gave emotional, relational, intellectual, financial and spiritual support to those whom he loved. "He made us brave." Jill said Erics words and actions gave his girls confidence to try something new and strength to meet challenges. Every day he showed his daughters how a husband loves his wife and his family knew he loved them. Eric was an example of Christ in the workplace and in the way he treated his coworkers and clients. He worked for Travis Voice & Data Systems; Novartis Pharmaceuticals for 12 years, and Sanofi. For the past six years, he worked for Organogenesis, Inc., most recently as a regional sales manager. He was active in Wild Life, a small accountability group. He loved music, and song writing, especially when it was done with his daughters. Eric and Jill sang with a praise and worship group at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. For the past year, Eric and his family have attended Life Church. All over the family home, Erics creativity is displayed. He was a craftsman who repurposed pieces found while antique shopping with Jill into beautiful pieces of furniture, and decorations. Eric also liked to write, draw and paint. Eric is survived by Jill, his loving wife for 21 years, and his three beloved daughters, Peyton, 17, Kaylen, 15, and Emerson, 11, of the home. He is also survived by his parents, Regina and Stephen King; his parents-in-law, Steve and Jan Hulsey; Jills sisters and their families, Janna and Tim, Morgan and Evan Rothwell; and Jessica and Mike, Caleb and Audra McDaniel; his sister, Angela and Steve Reynolds and family; and Jills grandparents, Dorothy and Eugene Hulsey, Erics mentor. Eric was preceded in death by his nephew, Gavin King. The celebration of life service is Friday, June 1 at 10 a.m. at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. Viewing is from 4-9 p.m. on Thursday, May 31 at Mercer Adams Funeral Service, 3925 North Asbury in Bethany. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to the Go Mitch Go Foundation, 4507 Willow Avenue, Bethany, OK 73008, or www.gomitchgo.com. Eric was a man who had his priorities in the right order. He loved God, his wife, his children, his family and friends, and he made sure they knew he loved them. Every day he showed up, ready for life. He had a servants heart and was a witness for his Lord and Savior.
