Obituary

VaughanApril 2, 1937 - April 15, 2016 EDMOND Born April 2, 1937, in Washburn, MO to Dr. Omar Alexander Palmer and June Genevieve Palmer. She attended The University of Oklahoma, graduating Phi Beta Kappa in 1972. She then attended The University of Oklahoma School of Law, graduating in 1975 in the top 16 percent of her class. She worked as a corporate oil and gas attorney for the Kerr-McGee Corporation for many years. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, and new culinary experiences. She remembered, "I took my children fishing often and loved every minute of their lives, even if they didn't catch any fish." She enjoyed traveling in their motor home with David, her husband of 34 years, discovering the wonders of the road. Often, their destinations were determined by local farmers' markets and the availability of fresh seafood. She is survived by her husband, David Smith; son, David Vaughan & wife Debora, of Mahopac, NY; daughters, Kathryn Vaughan, of Dallas, TX; and Karen Vaughan, of Tulsa; grandchildren, Chloe Reynolds, of Tulsa; Stephanie Vaughan, of Clifton, NJ; Emilie Vaughan, of Oklahoma City; and Eric Ryan and Jessica Wiltse, of New York. E.J. expressed how lucky she was to have been married to two wonderful men who both treated her with the utmost love and respect. E.J. preferred no service. She thanks Dr. Salomi Salins, Dr. Catherine Porter, and Dr. George Chrysant for their care during her illnesses as well as the staff of Integris Hospice House during her brief care under their hands. In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to the American Stroke Association . - See more at: http://legacy.newsok.com/obituaries/oklahoman/obituary.aspxn=emma-vaughan&pid=179666919&eid=sp_shareobit#sthash.uv0iimoZ.dpuf
