Obituary

Emma Jacquelyn Boyd finished her journey on this earth on October 1, 2015. She is now resting in the arms of her Lord and Savior in heaven where she will spend eternity with loved ones who have gone on before. Affectionately known as "Jackie" to her friends and family, she was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Alma Pool, two brothers, Bill Pool and Darrell Pool, two sisters, Jerry Pitallo and Havah Hale), and her dear husband of 44 years, Key Boyd. She leaves behind a brother, Leland Pool of Clovis, NM, a sister, Joy Riley of Littleton, CO, three sons, Michael of Tulsa, OK, Phillip of Houston, TX, and Stanley of OKC, OK, in addition to 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jackie was born in Amarillo, Texas, on September 6, 1928, the fourth child of seven children. Her family moved to Fieldton, Texas when she was 6 years old and then to Portales, New Mexico when she was 11 years old. She attended church at First Baptist Church of Portales and at the age of 11 asked Jesus to be her Savior and Lord, as she accepted His payment for her sins on Calvary's cross and thus was reconciled to God. Following completion of high school from Portales High School, Jackie attended Eastern New Mexico University for 2 years, before a young man from Norman, OK came into her life. Key and Jackie Boyd were married on Feb. 18, 1949 and resided in Alvin, Texas where Key was employed. A short time later, they moved to OKC, OK where they made their home for the duration of their 44 years of marriage. Jackie was a stay-at-home mom for most of the years that her boys were in school. Jackie loved her family. She worked as a receptionist at Hefner Junior High School for a few years, and then worked as a volunteer at Deaconess Hospital, where she was loved by all who came in contact with her. Jackie loved to play the piano and was involved in many aspects of her church, Olivet Baptist in OKC, participating in WMU, Training Union, Sunday School programs, and helping in the nursery. She was also a lover of plants and flowers and always kept a beautiful garden in their yard as well as beautiful plants and flowers inside to brighten her home. She was a masterful housekeeper, always keeping a spotless home and was a wonderful wife and mother to her husband and children. All who knew Jackie soon grew to love her. Her ever sweet and giving, caring spirit drew people to her as she gained their affections. Those healthcare professionals who worked with her in the last months of her life would oft time make comments such as "I love you, Jackie!" While those who knew and loved her remain and presently mourn the loss of Jackie from our lives, we likewise rejoice in her life, well-lived, with the successful completion of her journey through life's joys and sorrows. We will miss her dearly and look forward to seeing her again on the other side. The family wishes to thank Jackie's caregivers at The Villages at Southern Hills in Tulsa, OK for their loving and compassionate care. The family will receive friends Thursday, 7-8:30pm and Friday, 9-10:30am at Mercer-Adams. Services will be Friday, October 9, 2:00pm at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Donations may be given in Jackie's name to the Children's Ministry at Olivet Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. Funeral Service Friday, October 9, 2015 02:00 PM Mercer-Adams Chapel 3925 N.
