Elyse G. Garvin walked into the arms of her heavenly Father on October 7, 2018. Born to William and Beulah McHuin on April 23, 1926, in Konawa, OK, she was preceded in death by her spouse of 35 years, Col. Thomas Garvin (USAF), her parents, three sisters, one brother, step-son, Mike Garvin and step-grandson, Fletcher Vines. Elyse is survived by her son, Daniel Sanchez and wife Carol, and daughter, Kristen Sanchez. She is also survived by step-son, Randy Garvin and wife Judy and step-daughter, Gail Vines. She also leaves behind grandsons, Jonathan Sanchez, Michael Sanchez, Scott Sanchez, Jeffrey Sanchez, great-granddaughter, Isabella Sanchez, and step-grandchildren, John Garvin, Thomas Garvin, Kelly Garvin and Lloyd Vines. After graduating from Bethany HS in 1943, Elyse attended college, modeled for Balliets and was a featured cover girl for the OKC magazine THIS WEEK. As the spouse of an Air Force officer, she traveled to Japan, Libya, and other parts of the world. Elyse and her family returned to the Bethany area in 1963, building a home near Lake Overholser where she resided for 45 years. She loved Bethany and was delighted to have her grandsons, Jonathan and Michael David follow in her footsteps to Bethany HS. A woman of considerable talents, she always saw her most important role as being a mother to her children. Elyse was a lovely person who lived a full and beautiful life. She will be remembered for her kindness and sweet spirit, leaving a special place in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. The family would like to express their gratitude for the kind and loving care given to Elyse by everyone at St. Ann's Home/Grace Living Center and Mercy Hospice, especially Miss Becky.Services will be Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2:00pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service, Bethany, with interment in Bethany Cemetery. Viewing will be Monday 9am to 9pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Samaritan's Purse at samaritanspurse.org.
