Obituary

Elsie Adeline Smith Listen was born in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Earl and Cora Smith on January 1, 1928. She had one brother, Ernie Smith, deceased. She was married to Wilfred Listen in February, 1947. They had one daughter, Brenda Sue Listen Young. Brenda had three children, their grandchildren, Rick Young Jr. of Oklahoma City, Athena DeSpain of Tulsa, and Amy Ross of Oklahoma City. Together they had ten children, Elsie's great-grandchildren. Elsie lived most of her childhood in Wynnewood but moved to Oklahoma City where she graduated from Capitol Hill High School. While in high school, Elsie worked evenings as an elevator operator at First National Bank in downtown OKC. One day her future husband stepped onto her elevator. He asked her out. She accepted his invitation. They were married nearly 63 years. Together, they owned several businesses. She also worked as a postal clerk. Elsie and her husband worked with the youth at the Spencer United Methodist Church. She was active in Eastern Star. Elsie was a very hard working woman. She very proud of the home she kept for her husband and daughter. Viewing will be Thursday, 9am-9pm, with family present from 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams. Private family services. Private Services
