Elma Ruth Goodwin, 83, died Friday, January 23, 2009 in Oklahoma City. She was born January 25, 1925 in Ringwood, Oklahoma to Sarah Irena Arthur (Veatch) and Ira Dick Leaton Arthur. Ruth attended teachers college in Pratt, Kansas, graduating in 1943. Ruth married J.C. Goodwin in 1944 in Hutchinson, Kansas. They moved to Oklahoma City in 1950 where they raised a family and operated Tire Town for 37 years. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, and only son, Jerry Lee Goodwin, Sr. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, J.C.; two sisters, Ruby Mersman and Lou Avery; brother, Chester Arthur; grandsons, Jerry Lee Goodwin, Jr., Lance C. Goodwin, and Lawrence J. Goodwin; as well as 4 great-grandchildren. Services will be Monday, January 26, 2:00 p.m. at Mercer-Adams Chapel, Bethany, Oklahoma, with interment in Resurrection Cemetery.
