Obituary

Ellen (Martin) Hall, age 73, of Yukon passed away on February 11, 2016. Ellen and her twin brother, Elvin, were born in the home of their grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. P.E. Andis near Geary, Oklahoma on November 23, 1942 to Eldon and Ruth (Andis) Martin. Shortly thereafter, the family relocated to Oklahoma City where she attended Westwood Elementary School. At age 12, the family moved to their family farm in the Geary/Watonga, Oklahoma area where Ellen attended Greenfield School. She thrived in the small school setting and was named FFA Chapter Sweetheart as well as Valedictorian of her senior class. Following graduation, Ellen attended Central Christian College in McPherson, Kansas where she met and married the love of her life, David Edsel Hall. Originally, they lived in Oklahoma City and also Cashion before moving to Geary in 1972 where they started their heating and air-conditioning business. The family was at the threshold of this new chapter in their lives when a fatal car collision took Davids life on a rural road near Greenfield, Oklahoma in late June, 1972. Ellen and her three young children moved back to Oklahoma City where they began yet another new chapter in their lives. Grandparents and family members stepped in and helped provide love and support as Ellen and her young children faced the gaping hole in their lives without a father and husband. Despite the challenges, God sustained them and Ellen and her children thrived and grew stronger as a family. Ellen always enjoyed and was successful in business ventures. Early on, she was employed in the banking industry and later she enjoyed several business ventures as a business owner/operator and was active until shortly before her death. Ellen was a wonderful homemaker and master cook, and she was greatly admired for her culinary skill. Her greatest delight was cooking and serving family and friends. Oklahoma-style, made-from-scratch egg noodles ladled over mashed potatoes was an all-time favorite. Melt-in-your-mouth cinnamon rolls also top the list of Ellens specialties as well as cakes and cookies of all kinds with homemade ice cream on the side. At a very early age, Ellen gave her life to the Lord and accepted Christ Jesus as her Savior. Her faith was always the foundation for dealing with the challenges that life brought her way. Ellen deeply loved and found great joy in family. She believed in and encouraged her children and grandchildren to pursue their life callings and ambitions. True to her spirit of determination and hard work, Ellen returned to college as an adult and earned a bachelors degree in business. This was a significant and beneficial accomplishment in her life and career. She leaves behind her family daughter, Diana Hall Stratz and husband, Michael of Yukon, Oklahoma; son, Martin Hall and wife, Jill of Yukon, Oklahoma; and daughter, Stephanie Hall Horton and husband, Lex of Coweta, Oklahoma; four grandchildren Joshua Hall, Emily Stratz, Jasilin Hall, and Kail Stratz; two brothers, Elvin Martin and wife Ann, Dwight Martin and wife Susan; and a host of nieces and nephews.Memorial service will be Saturday, February 13, 2:00pm at Metroplex Church of the Nazarene, 10801 N.
