Ella Thompson died December 11, 2016. She was born September 6, 1924 in Wewoka, OK to Luther and Mamie (Geller) Campbell. She had a twin brother and was the youngest of 9 siblings. Upon high school graduation, she became the bookkeeper for the Childrens Hospital in Oklahoma City. She married Richard H. Thompson on March 14, 1948. She served as a pastors wife for 38 years with the Church of the Nazarene in the locations of Hammond, LA; Arlington, TX; McKinney, TX; Greenville, TX; McAllen, TX; Deridder, LA; Odessa, TX; Live Oak, FL; Victoria, TX; Conroe, TX; and San Antonio, TX. Ella served as the treasurer of the Spanish Nazarene Seminary in San Antonio. She enjoyed painting, playing the piano and organ, entertaining evangelists, and sang in a trio that was on the radio every Sunday morning in addition to teaching a childrens Sunday school class. Preceded in death by her parents, survivors include her husband, Richard H. Thompson; daughter, Debra Phillips; son, John Thompson; grandchildren, Traci Ayers and husband Rob, Amy Shirola and husband Andy, Casey Phillips and wife Sandra, and Eli Thompson; great-grandchildren, Alton, Avery, Alayna, and Aubin Ayers and Carson, Neely, and Karly Shirola. Viewing will be Tuesday, 9am-9pm with family present from 6-7pm at Mercer-Adams.
