Eleanor K. Kay
1917-2017
Eleanor Kathryn (Stahley) Kay, 99, formerly of Kearney, Nebraska, passed away on January 22, 2017 at Spanish Cove Pavilion in Yukon, Oklahoma. She was born September 3, 1917 to John Stahley and Jennie Elizabeth (Giron) Stahley in Jeannette, PA.
The family moved several times during her childhood years. With the loss of her father and mother early in her teen years, she raised her younger sister and two brothers. She later moved to Texas to be closer to her older sister and met her husband, Vernon R. Kay, in Plainview, Texas. They married on June 19, 1948 and had one daughter and two sons. The family moved to Kearney, Nebraska, and resided there for over 30 years. Eleanor was a mother, housewife, extraordinary seamstress, artist, and sports fan--particularly baseball and basketball. She bowled in leagues and was a very competitive bowler. After the death of her husband, she moved to Oklahoma City to be closer to her sisters and brother.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother; her husband, Vernon; her sisters, Louise (Stahley) Morgan and Mary Jean (Treagesser) Holman Penry; and her brother, Lawrence Treagesser.
She was survived by her brother, Harry Treagesser; her daughter and husband, Sandra and Greg Ingram; her son and wife, Larry and Karen Kay; and son, Terry Kay; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
