Elbert F. Sims, born June 22, 1936 in Childress Texas, went home to Heaven on November 1, 2017. He was united in marriage to Barbara Odell, February 12, 1960. He proudly served in the Navy until 1960 when he left the service to focus on his wife and raising his family. Elbert was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor in Accounting. He retired from Conoco in 1994 after 20 years of service and retired again from Express Personnel Services in 2016. One of the highlights of his life was when he served as a Missions volunteer with MAPS RV and in Nairobi, Kenya. He is survived by the love of his life, Barbara Sims; brother, Roy (Doris) Sims; children, Frank (Stephanie) Sims, Carolyn Sims, and Dean (Michele) Sims; grandchildren, Allie (Donnie) Currie, Lacey (Daniel) Harris, Katie Sims, Drew Robinson, Zach Sims, Hannah Sims, and David Sims; and great-grandchildren, Brendon, Hayden, Jackson and Bentley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert W. Sims and Christine S. Sims. Family visitation will be Thursday, 5-7pm at Mercer-Adams.
