Effie "Chris"
Sillivan
Aug 17, 1934 — Jun 12, 2026
Effie Christine Sillivan "Chris" passed away on June 12, 2026 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born August 17, 1934 to Alvin Garret and Effie (Johnson) Garrett in Amarillo, Texas. She married Richard Dean Sillivan on March 20, 1953 in Tucson, Arizona.
Chris dedicated her life to being a wonderful mother and creating a joyful, Christian home. She loved being a mom, grandma and sister, and never missed the opportunity to spend time with her family. Chris embraced the adventure of making a secure, loving, Christian home as their family moved to several places, including Tucson, AZ, Albuquerque, NM, Anchorage, AK, Sargent, NE, Longmont, CO, Grand Island, NE and Oklahoma City, OK.
Chris was a kind, warmhearted, generous person who loved the Lord and made friends wherever she went. When the girls were young, she made most of their clothes, putting a special part of herself into every stitch. You could say she mastered the art of homemaking, and raising three successful daughters was one of her proudest legacies.
While her homemaking talents brought her much joy, Chris was much more than that. She successfully completed the necessary courses and training to get her private pilot's license. She owned her own airplane and delighted in flying it as she and Richard successfully operated Sillivan Aircraft Sales. Chris was also famous for loving a good cup of coffee and had a special fondness for meeting with friends at McDonald's for a cup or two.
Chris was preceded in death by her parents; beloved spouse of 67 years, Richard Sillivan; and siblings, Juanita Barton, Mildred Crawford, Lloyd Garrett, and Harold Garrett.
She is survived by her daughters, Denise Riggs (Rick) of Oklahoma City, OK, Brenda Dowse (Bruce) of Oklahoma City, OK and Deena Bourne (David) of Lexington, KY; grandchildren, Kyra Seefeld (Chad) of Omaha, NE, Ginger McCandless of Omaha, NE, Erica Loughlin (Chuck) of Oklahoma City, OK, Alisha Jones (Dan) of Stuart, FL, Cory Riggs of CO, Rachel Eads (Matt) of Oklahoma City, OK, Michael Bourne of Lexington, KY and Cassie Loo (Shuan) of Caldwell, NJ; 9 great-grandchildren; and sister, Loretta Fox of Texas.
