Obituary

Edward "Ed" Burton Glendinning graduated to heaven on January 1st, 2026 with Fireworks going off all around to celebrate the new year and Ed's entrance into heaven. He truly went out with a bang and as the Champion that he was. Ed was living in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was 87 years old.

Ed was born in Enid, Oklahoma, on June 14th, 1938. He attended Northwest Classen High School where he graduated in 1956. After high school, Ed attended Oklahoma State University, where he was a member of the Phi Delt Fraternity. He then transferred to Oklahoma City University. While at OCU, Ed graduated with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics. After graduation, Ed worked for the Federal Aviation Administration for 32 years as a computer programmer, while simultaneously teaching classes at the air traffic control school in Oklahoma City.

Eddie met his soul mate, in an unanticipated racetrack ceremony, and married the love of his life, Helen Wise on May 12th, 1962. On April 2nd, 1963, Ed and Helen welcomed their son, Martin Edward, into the world. During their 63 years of marriage, Ed and Helen went on many adventures, truly loved nature, and were absolutely devoted to God and each other.

Ed had many hobbies, but his biggest hobby was racing. He raced stockcars and modified midgets from 1957-1972. In 1967, Ed had an undefeated year winning every heat race, trophy dash, and main event that he entered on his way to a dominant national championship. Once Ed retired from racing, he began pursuing a new hobby, motorcycles. With his love for motorcycles, Ed and Helen spent 25 years in God's motorcycle ministry which included domestic mission work and traveling to Guatemala and Mexico. While in Mexico and Guatemala, Ed helped build a church and deliver motorcycles to spread God's redeeming message. Ed also loved camping, fishing, trail riding, and traveling with his wife and family. During the summers, Ed and Helen loved to frequent Pitkin, Colorado with their RV and 4-wheelers.

Ed was preceded in death by his father, Edward L. Glendinning, his mother, Bessie Martin Glendinning, his uncles, Mervyn Martin, Warren "Pug" Martin, and Harry Martin. He was also proceeded in death by his aunts; Florence Eaton, Mabel Bacon, Hilda Young, Emilie Webb, and Laura Rhodes.

Ed is survived by his Wife, Helen Glendinning; son, Martin and wife, Yvette Glendinning; Granddaughter, Alexa "AJ" Glendinning along with two great grand dogs, Bella and Skillet. Ed is also survived by countless family members and friends.

Ed lived a full, memorable, energetic, and very exciting life that touched so many people in so many positive ways. Ed was a loving husband, father, and "Papaw", who also loved all of his family members and friends! He will be genuinely and sincerely missed!!
