Obituary

Edna Pearl' (Porter) Ashlock went home to be with her Lord on Friday, April 13, 2012 at the age of 93. Pearl was born January 25, 1919, in Muskogee, OK. She was the daughter of Charles Fredrick Porter and Herma Jane (Mynhier) Porter. She was a graduate of Waynewright, OK School. She attended some college classes receiving various certificates. Pearl was retired from the Mid-Del School System. Pearl married Orville Dennis Ashlock, June 20, 1936 and lived in Okmulgee, Del City, Bremerton, WA and Oklahoma City. Unto this marriage three children were born. She enjoyed traveling, time at the lake, sewing, crochet, doll collection as member of a doll club in Del City. Pearl loved cooking, especially making candy and especially all the goodies during the holidays. She was very involved in many church activites. Pearl enjoyed reunions and spent much time with friends and family. Orville and Pearl were members of First Southern Baptist Church of Del City. Leaving their home and friends in 1999, they moved to Oklahoma City with their daughter, Orvy Dawkins, due to Orville's failing health. She joined in attending Victory Church with them. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years and 9 months, Orville D Ashlock; son, Charles William Ashlock; her parents, Charles F and Herma J Porter, brother in-law Olen Ashlock, sisters'-in-law Dorothy Ashlock, Hester Ashlock sister inlaw Anne Ashlock. Her family and friends will always remember her for her graciousness, laughter and warmth. Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters: Betty and Arlan Smith of Shawnee, OK; Orvy and David Dawkins of Yukon, OK; and daughter-in-law Linda Ashlock of Enid, OK; 9 grandchildren and 8 spouses Cheryl & Donnie Randolph, Shar & Jesse Tipton, Dennis & Leen Smith, David & Diana Dawkins, Tamara & Gene Mooney, Mike Dawkins, Curtis & Amy Smith, Charles William Jr & Rachel Ashlock, and Mark & Suelynn Dawkins; 22 Great grandchildren & 5 spouses and 14 great-great grandchildren, 4 Step- great grandchildren, 3 step great-great grandchildren, and brother-in-law Frank C. Ashlock of Talala, OK. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. She will forever remain in the hearts of those who have been touched by her love and kindness. Officiating the service will be her grandson, Curtis Smith and Joel Mann, Chaplains'. Honorary Pallbearers are grandsons': William Ashlock, Dennis Smith, Curtis Smith, David Dawkins II, Mike Dawkins and Mark Dawkins. Public visitation will be Tuesday April 17, 2012 9:00 AM at Mercer-Adams Chapel, 3925 N Asbury, Bethany, Oklahoma 73008. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday April 18, 2012 at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service Chapel, Bethany, OK.
