Obituary

Edith Mae (Fisher) Bilyeu, 91 of Bethany, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday evening, January 16, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was born January 11, 1925 in Wilson, Kansas to George M. Fisher and Edith M. (Clark) Fisher. She was the second born of eight children. Edith graduated from East High School in Wichita, Kansas. Following graduation she went to work for Dillons Grocery. She soon met her future husband, Doyle Bilyeu, who had just returned from serving in the Navy in the South Pacific. They were married on April 14, 1946 in Wichita, Kansas. Doyle and Edith would have celebrated 70 years of a blessed marriage this April. Edith worked for the Bethany Childrens Center for a while where she lovingly cared for the children and their families. She and Doyle later catered weddings and special events for couples, families and the church. Edith was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, (Nanny) great-grandmother, sister and friend. Everyone who met her loved her. Edith was a Godly woman who loved serving the Lord. She was a charter member of Western Oaks Church of the Nazarene where she gave of herself in many ministries. She will forever be remembered as a delicious cook, a woman with a servants heart, as a loving caregiver, her sense of style, a faithful prayer warrior and a daughter of God. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include her husband, Doyle, of the home; daughter, Gayla Ryan and husband Rev. Larry Ryan of Yukon; son, Rev. Robert Bilyeu and wife, Elois of Texarkana, Texas; daughter, Anita Johnson and husband Brent Johnson of Bethany, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Velma Bennett of Towanda, Kansas; brother, Bill Fisher of Vancouver, Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation with family present will be Tuesday evening, January 19, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mercer Adams Funeral Home in Bethany, Oklahoma. A celebration of Ediths life will be held Wednesday, January 20, at 11:00 a.m. at Mercer Adams Funeral Chapel at 3925 North Asbury, Bethany, Oklahoma 73008.
