Obituary

Earl Edward Stevens "Steve", age 99, of Warr Acres, OK, passed away at the Norman Veterans Center on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015 surrounded by his family. Earl was born July 29, 1915 in Denison, TX to James & Sarah Stevens. Earl was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Mary, in 2011, his parents and his 6 siblings. He is survived by his 3 children, Greg Stevens & wife Donna of OKC, Sandy Stoll & husband Mike of Yukon and Cherie Forester & husband Bill of Norman. Earl is also survived by his 7 grandchildren, Amme Weilert & husband Chris of Edmond, Jeran Stevens & wife Maria of OKC, Meghan Christie & husband Jared of Norman, Blake Forester of OKC, Sarah Ford of OKC, Cameron Forester of Norman and Adam Forester & fiance Kristin Brown of OKC. Great Papa is also survived by his 7 beloved great grandchildren: Jonathan, Sophia, Ryder, Carson, Flynn, Paxon and Crew. Earl enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force in September, 1942 where he served as a radio mechanic with the 200th Army Air Forces Base Unit until he was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant in December, 1945. During his service, he earned the American Theater Ribbon, the Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Earl married the love of his life, Mary Loretta Dulohery, in Independence, KS on Dec. 8, 1944. Earl worked at Vance AFB in Enid, OK before accepting a job at the Federal Aviation Administration in Oklahoma City. He retired from FAA in 1977 and, for almost 35 years, he was able to pursue his passions of gardening, camping, home renovating, amateur (Ham) radio and spending quality time with his family and friends. Many lifelong friends were made at Roaring River State Park, Missouri, at the Buttons and Beauxs Square Dance Club and at St. Charles Borromeo where Earl & Mary were members for over 50 years. Viewing will be Friday, March 6, 9am-7pm, with a Rosary at 7:00pm at Mercer-Adams Chapel, Bethany, OK. Funeral will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church on Saturday, March 7, 10:00am with interment in Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
