Dwight Baldwin went to be with our Lord on January 26th in Oklahoma City, OK due to stroke complications at the age of 73.
Dwight was born in Bethany, OK on July 11, 1948. His family lived in Fort Worth, TX, Houston, TX, and Ponca City, OK where he was on the state championship football team in 1965. Dwight attended Bethany Nazarene College (now SNU) from 1966-1970 and graduated with a degree in math and physics. During his time at BNC, he married his high school sweetheart, Delynda Johnson Baldwin, in 1969. The couple moved to Lawrence, KS for grad school at Kansas University for Dwight to pursue a graduate degree in solid state physics.
Dwight was hired by the 3M corporation in 1977 and Dwight and Delynda moved to Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota. While there, their children Kirk, Elizabeth and Emily were born. The Baldwin family moved to Austin in 1989 for Dwight to continue his career with 3M. There he earned 15 patents in his work with overhead projectors in the 1990s. He won several awards with 3M and retired after a 38-year career. He relocated to Oklahoma City 2 years before his death.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Delynda Baldwin; his 3 children and their spouses, Kirk and Stephanie Baldwin, Elizabeth and Keith Fischborn, Emily and Joel Wiley; and 5 grandchildren. He is also survived by his father, Frank Baldwin, and his brother, Jerald Baldwin. He was preceded in death by his mother, Audie Baldwin.
A family celebration of life will occur in February in Oklahoma City.
