Dr. John Allan Knight, Sr., died 2/2/09 while vacationing in FL. Knight was born 11/8/31 in Mineral Wells, TX, the son of John Lee and Beulah Bounds Knight. He was married 8/22/58 to Justine Rushing. Knight was survived by his wife (Justine), their 3 children (John A. Jr., Jim and Judy Walraven), 6 grandchildren, 2 brothers (C. Marselle Knight and Don Knight), and a host of nieces and nephews. Knight graduated from Bethany Naz. College (SNU) in 52 and earned an M.A. from OU in 54. Knight holds the M.Div. and Ph.D from Vanderbilt Univ. He was an ordained elder in the Nazarene Church. He taught at 3 universities, authored books, commentaries and scholarly journals and served as Pres. of Mt. Vernon Naz. Univ. and SNU in Bethany (76-85). He was editor of Herald of Holiness, the official publication of the Intl Church of the Nazarene, and served as General Superintendent of the denomination from 85 until he retired in 2001.
