Dr. Robert "Bob" New Goodhead was born August 28, 1935 in Beggs, OK to Ralph New and Mary Lois (Vanderpool) Goodhead. He died January 26, 2018 in Oklahoma City. Bob graduated from Oklahoma City Central High School and joined the United States Army, serving his county from 1954-1957. After his military service, Bob attended the University of Oklahoma and later the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. Upon graduation in 1962, Dr. Bob returned to Oklahoma City where he practiced optometry for over fifty years. The last several years of his life Bob served as a part-time optometrist at the Lexington State Prison. Bob was an amateur radio operator and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Noble, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents; his late wife of 49 years, Donna; brother William Goodhead; and sister Carol Chaney. He is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Bill Goodhead, David Goodhead (Mindy), Dan Goodhead (Lorraine), Melanie Nichols (Ralph), Dr. George Goodman (Judy) and Bryan Goodhead (LaRee); step-daughters, Tracee Rose (Paul) and Stacee Goetzinger (Doug); eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and five step-grandchildren. Viewing will be Tuesday from 12-9 pm with family present from 6-8 pm. Funeral service will be 1:00 pm, Wednesday, January 31 at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment to follow in El Reno Cemetery.
