Dortha F. Harvey left us too soon on July 20, 2011. Born July 7, 1940, in Utica, OK, to Dow and Mildred Brooks, the oldest of eight siblings. She was a graduate and Homecoming Queen of Durant High School. She attended business school in Amarillo, TX, where she studied accounting. Dortha served as the Treasurer of Southwest Radio Church and President of a Christian publishing ministry in Oklahoma City, and for the past 30 years she was the owner of a Christian childcare center. An avid quilter and gardener, she was a lover of all things livingher family, church, dogs, and anyone she crossed paths with. Her faith was her real strength and the Bible was her roadmap. Her zeal was in missions, which began with her mom at Falls Creek and spread worldwide. From her church home at Council Road in Oklahoma City, to Bible distributions in China and Russia, to the mission fields of Taiwan, the Caribbean, and the Middle East, she was a shining example of Christs love for us. She was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter, Tyler Wynn, and survived by her children Rhonda and Don Ross, Clyde and Dianna Harvey, Kelly and Mark Shadid, and Tracy and Wes Rogers; siblings Larry Brooks, Barbara Wilson, Carmilee Harvey, Kathy Cooper, Jackie Trotter, John Brooks, and Cheryl Shearer; grandchildren Clint Ross, Joseph Douglas, Wes Rogers, Garret Greenwell, Whitney Darden, Jennifer Rogers, Brooke Ross, Haley Harvey, Hayden Harvey, Hannah Austin, Darby Ross, Brittany Wynn, Lauren Shadid, Jacob Rogers, Josiah Douglas, Lily Rogers, Liam Rogers, Victoria Rogers, Logan Darden, and Sophia Darden. Viewing at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home, Bethany, OK, through Sunday evening. Services are to be held at Council Road Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 25, with family lunch preceding at noon.
