Dorothy Logan Sparks, 78, entered the gates of Heaven on March 12, 2011. She was born on January 26, 1933 in Oklahoma City to D.E. and Dorothy Logan. She grew up in Dumas, Texas and married Bill Sparks in 1951. Together they had three children. Dorothy enjoyed being a devoted homemaker and loving mother to her children and dedicated her entire life to their care. She began working at 1st Bethany Bank and Trust in 1977. She retired twenty years later. After retirement, her favorite pastimes included spending time with her kids and grandkids, reading, gardening and traveling. She cherished the friendships she had kept until the day she died. Dorothy always maintained that her greatest accomplishment was raising three kids that loved each other. She personified grace, strength and dignity through all the adversities and trials life threw at her. Steadfast faith, quiet inner strength, perseverance, the ability to find joy in all circumstances, unable to complain, and her devotion to her Lord and family were unarguably her most admiral qualities. She was an inspiration to all, especially the grandchildren she treasured. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary Keeney, sister Betty Wagner, grandson Robbie Willmurth, son-in-law Dave Jester, and daughter-in-law Tobi Rogers. She is survived by daughter Debbie Sparks Jester, Tulsa, OK; son Bruce Sparks, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; daughter Kim Sparks Roach and husband Jess; grandchildren Sunshine Sparks, Spencer Roach, Bailey Roach, and her great-granddaughter Denver Narlock; special niece Liesa Whiteley and devoted friend Louise Aldridge. Dorothy was a 22 year breast cancer survivor and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
1 Thess. 4:11-12 and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind our own business and work with our hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.
