Obituary

Dorothy Jeanne Pitt went to be with her Lord on Friday, September 2, 2011, at the age of 89 and after a brief illness. Jeanne and husband, Jim, met at Kotche's Dance Studio in 1938. She loved to tell the story of Jim looking down the line of girls to position himself so she would be his next partner. They were married on January 24, 1944 in Oakland, CA. Jim was serving in the Navy during World War II, and 22-year-old Jeanne took a two and one-half day train ride to Oakland so they could marry during his leave. They were happily married for 67 years.Jeanne's hobbies were square and round dancing until poor health made it difficult to continue. She worked in the advertising department of Sears for 19 years.Jeanne was preceded in death by infant son, Steven Randall; and daughter, Janice Taylor. She is survived by husband James; sister, Betty Lesser; daughters, Suzanne (Keith) Watson and Michelle (Ron) Jameson; son-in-law, Larry Taylor; grandchildren, John and Joanna Taylor, Shannon (Ryan) Medley, Brian (Amber) Watson, Lindsey (Chad) Buchanan, Brett (Beccah) Watson; and great-grandchildren, Braxton Buchanan, Connor Watson and Mack Medley. The family wishes to thank the excellent staff at Deaconess Hospital, Dr. Joe Fowler, Encompass Home Health Care, and her wonderful caregivers, Brandi, Julia and Cynthia. Jeanne was a member of First Baptist Church of Piedmont, Oklahoma, where her services will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
