Dorothy Ann Nummy, 81, died on Sunday, September 22, 2013, in Oklahoma City. She was born on February 26, 1932, in Edmond, OK to Valentine and Florence (Noe) Maier. She married James Amos Nummy on March 18, 1953 and their marriage lasted for more than 55 years until his death on August 19, 2008. She is survived by her two sons, James O. and his wife Cheryl, and David Michael Nummy and his partner Petar Popovic of Arlington, Virginia; two grandchildren, James Michael Nummy and his wife Kaitlin, and Kendra Leann Nummy; many nephews, a special niece, friends from all areas of her life and a team of caregivers, Linda Thompson, Brittney Nero, Barbara Hastings, and Rochelle Sullivan, who provided love and comfort during her final years. She was preceded in death by her four brothers, Bill, Bob, Fred and Jack Maier. Dorothy was an employee of the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission for over 30 years and a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church for over 50 years and a long-time member of several Sunday School Classes, the most recent being the Triquetra Class. In the latter part of her life, Dorothy was an avid traveler and explored three continents making at least annual trips to a variety of countries, enjoying different cultures, cuisines, and ways of life until she was no longer able to travel. Services will be Friday, September 27, 1:00pm at St. Luke's United Methodist Church with interment in Gracelawn Cemetery, Edmond. A viewing will be held at Mercer Adams Funeral Home on Thursday, September 26, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at 3925 N Asbury Ave., Bethany, OK 73008.
