Obituary

Dorothy Marie Horton, 93, passed away unexpectedly on June 5 in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born on July 29, 1930, in McLoud, OK, to Stanley and Elsie (Wingfield) Loman. Dorothy graduated from McLoud High School; she was eagerly anticipating her upcoming high school class reunion, which she had attended for years.

After graduation from high school, she got married and moved to Oklahoma City.

Dorothy enjoyed a fulfilling career as a realtor and reluctantly retired from Harris Realty in her early 90s. She also served as an Inspector with the Oklahoma County Election Board, where she worked for over 50 years. A longtime member of Crestwood Baptist Church, Dorothy also faithfully watched online services at St. Luke's Methodist Church for many years.

In her leisure time, Dorothy loved working in her yard and playing cards with neighbors and family members. She had a passion for traveling, especially attending the yearly Balloon Fiesta, in Albuquerque, NM.

Dorothy had a zest for life and will be remembered for her vibrant personality, her dedication to her community, and the joy she brought to those around her. An early riser, she took great pride in her appearance, always trying to look her best. She had a fondness for sweets; Russell Stover and See's Chocolates always brought a smile to her face.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert P. Horton; and her three brothers, Jay Loman, Junior Loman, and Bobby Loman. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Burns; her son, Dewayne Horton and his wife Karen; her sister, Nancy Rice; her grandson, Matthew Ryan Horton and his wife Kelsey; her great-grandchildren, Delainey Jane Horton and Callaway Jaymes Horton; and many extended family members and friends.
