Dorothy Arline (Kueffer) Croom, born July 22, 1917, passed peacefully from her home into the waiting arms of Jesus and her dear husband early Feb. 1, 2011. She was born in OKC, was a lifetime member of the Community of Christ Church, a woman of faith who sang nursery rhymes and church hymns from an early age. A Classen HS graduate, she married the love of her life, Mack Eph Croom Jr. in August 1937. A simple life, well-lived, she was a homemaker, friend, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, family historian, and breast cancer survivor of 25 years. She was a volunteer at Integris Baptist Hospital for over 30 years, inducted into the OK Bowling Hall of Fame in 2006 for her many years of service, and volunteered with the HUGS project in her later years. She loved singing & music, cooking, gardening, fishing, animals, needlework, and doing things for others. She loved to bowl and play tennis, liked watching all sports, but loved her husband and family most of all. Preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and beloved husband of 65 years, she is survived by daughter Judy Whetstone and husband Bill of OKC, granddaughter Laura Elles Smith of OKC, great-grandchildren Adam Smith of OKC and Jennifer Lee and husband Chad of Yukon, OK, brother-in-law Roland Croom and his wife Annabeth of OKC, nieces Barbara Fulton and husband Larry of Bethany, OK, Frana Parker of Clearwater, FL, nephews Bill Croom and wife Dana of OKC, Dick Croom and wife Kim of Edmond, OK, Frank Parker and wife Nina of League City, TX, as well as many treasured great nieces, nephew, friends, neighbors and her precious cat, Tabitha. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Mercer-Adams in Bethany, OK. Viewing will be Saturday, 9am-9pm, with the family present from 3-6 p.m. at Mercer-Adams. Funeral services will be held at Mercer-Adams Chapel on Sunday, Feb. 6 at 2 p.m., with interment at Rose Hill Cemetery to follow.
