Dorothy Alexander, died September 22, 2017, one week after her 96th birthday, in Oklahoma City. She was born September 14, 1921, in El Dorado, Oklahoma to Henry and Doska Hughes.
She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1939. She moved to Wichita, Kansas, working on airplanes during World War II. After attending Hills Business College and The American Institute of Banking in Oklahoma City, she was employed at Central Bank of Oklahoma City for over 15 years. After retiring in 1977, Dorothy and her husband, Basil, traveled in their motor home, with mopeds attached, to 46 states.
Dorothys passion was traveling around the world where she visited 32 countries and 23 islands. She enjoyed watching Thunder basketball, bingo at Town Village, jigsaw puzzles, Wheel of Fortune, casino trips and loved spending time with family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Basil Alexander; father and mother, Henry and Doska Hughes; sister, Opal OBannon; brother, Russell Hughes; sister, Ruby Patrick Davidson; brother, Andrew Hughes; sister, Willie Mae Copeland, and infant (Bessie).
She is survived by her companion of 10 years, Kenneth Doolittle; brother, H.R. Hughes, with wife, Della Hughes; nieces, Dana Owens-DeLong with husband, David DeLong; Tina Hughes Wellman with husband, Keith Wellman; Marla Slaydon with husband, Sam Slaydon; Rochelle Rippetoe with husband, Wilcey Rippetoe; Jenny Freeman with husband, Dale Freeman; nephew, Ovid Patrick, Jr., with wife, Peggy Patrick; nephew, William OBannon with wife, Patti OBannon; along with many, many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
