On Friday, 12/4/2020, Doris E. Turney slipped gently from this earth into heaven to be with her Lord at the age of 92. Doris was born on 12/21/1927 to Dallas Everett Jones and Vira Victoria Jones in Pawhuska, OK. Her family moved to Tulsa when she was in the 8th grade. From there they moved to Globe, AZ, where she graduated from high school. She attended Phillips University in Enid for 2 years but was so home sick for her family that she moved back to be with her parents in Colorado Springs, CO. In 1948, she reconnected with Gene P. Turney whom she had attended elementary school with in Pawhuska. Doris and Gene were married 1/16/1949. They were married for 67 years until Gene passed away in 2016. Doris and Gene had two children, Nancy and David. She was a stay-at-home mom until the children grew up at which time she embarked on a new career as a landman. She traveled over the state checking records in various county court houses. Doris survived cancer twice in her lifetime and after retirement filled her life with family and friends. She loved her bridge club and playing games of many kinds. She also loved to cross stitch and read. Doris is survived by daughter, Nancy Liszeo (Lloyd) of OKC and son, David Turney (Sherry) of Edmond. She also leaves behind 4 grandchildren: Greg Davis (Gina), Mark Davis (Kimberly), Morgan Stotts (Shawn) and Merrick Rankin (Mitch; and a step-granddaughter, Krista Neill (Chris). Doris also treasured time spent with 9 great-grandchildren: Ben, Madison, Katelyn and Mila Davis, David, Grace and Abigail Stotts, and Everett and Audrey Rankin. She also had 3 step-great-grandchildren: Amanda, Brady and Natalie Neill. Doris was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by every member of her family.
