Obituary

Doris Sutton died February 20, 2020. She was born March 31, 1922 in Miami, OK. Doris was an athletic teenager and was widely admired for her ability to make a half-court basket. She was married to Lonnie Sutton who preceded her in death after 63 years of a happy marriage. They had married when Lonnie was 19 and Doris was 17, and they waited till Doris finished high school to tell anyone. They moved to Oklahoma City and Doris owned a successful business, The Candy Box, serving the students of Putnam City Junior High School. After retirement, Doris and Lonnie spent many years traveling the United States and Canada in their motor home with family and friends. Doris spent her last decade living at the Wellington (now Linnwood ) where she was chosen Miss Wellington in 2010. Doris made many new friends at the Wellington and enjoyed an active social life while there. Doris is survived by her son, Lonnie Joe (Ann) of Bainbridge Island, WA, and daughter, Linda Broach of Tulsa, OK, and granddaughters, Jan-Marie (Brad) Kroh and great granddaughters, Caroline and Clair; granddaughter Stephanie (Matthew) Horten and great grandchildren, Channing, Wyatt and Grand; grandson Peter Broach. Doris lived to be almost 98 years old and was greatly adored by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday February 29, 2020, at First Baptist Church of Bethany followed by interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
