Doris Antoinette Lane Bunch, 95, of Oklahoma City, OK joined her heavenly Father on January 15, 2023. She was at home surrounded by her adoring family as she peacefully departed for her heavenly home.
Doris was born on September 26, 1927, in Butler, OK to H.D. Lane and Margaret (Galbraith) Lane. She grew up in Taloga, OK where she met the love of her life, Louis, before her family moved to Oklahoma City during her senior year of high school. As soon as Louis finished serving in the U.S. Navy during WWII, they wed on November 3, 1946, and remained married for 70 years until Louis passing in 2017.
Doris taught Sunday school to preschoolers at Crestwood Baptist Church for many years while she and Louis were raising their boys, and then became a longtime member of Portland Ave. Baptist Church where she taught adult Sunday School.
Always supportive of Louis career as a firefighter, Doris was a charter member of the OKC Firefighters Ladies Auxiliary as well as a member of OK State Firefighters Ladies Auxiliary and the OK State Fire Chiefs Auxiliary. She also performed administrative and hospitality roles for many years in the fair office at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds.
Following Louis retirement, the couple enjoyed many years of traveling in their fifth wheel and visited 49 states together, seeing friends and family along the way. Not long ago, Doris captured her 50th state during a cruise to Alaska with her oldest son and his wife.
While Doris has a long list of those for whom she was their grandmother, great-grandmother or even great-great-grandmother, there are even many more outside of the family who saw her as their quasi-grandmother as well. By making everyone feel welcome in her home, Doris got to watch many childhood friends of the family grow up, have children of their own, and continue to pay her a visit as the decades carried on.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis Bunch; son, Troy Bunch; sister, Ruth Cotton and her husband, Jim Cotton; and sister, Lil Staude and her husband, Cliff Staude.
Doris is survived by her sons, Bruce and Kenneth, and their wives, Paula Kreizinger and Debbie Bunch as well as her daughter-in-law, Ann Bunch.
Grandchildren include Amy Elizabeth Bunch Smith and her husband, Lance; Mark Bunch and his wife, Robin Wojtanik; Katie Bunch Clarke and husband Bret; Adam Bunch and his wife, Jill; Sara McKay and her husband, Andrs Mahecha Cruz; Andrew Bunch, Eric Bunch, and Ian McKay.
Doris great-grandchildren include Megan (Smith) Linenmann and husband, Jeff; assorted Bunches: Marjorie, Vivian, Elliott, Mason, and Nick; and Gavin and Jacob Stephens.
Blessed with her 95 years on earth, Doris was also lucky enough to have two great-great-grandchildren, Axel and Layne Linenmann.
