Obituary

Doreen Mae Hambrick entered into eternal rest on Friday, May 23, 2014 at her home in Oklahoma City, OK. Doreen was born June 21, 1938 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Charles Elder and Dorothy Mulholland Elder. Doreen moved to Bainbridge Island, WA where she graduated from high school. She moved to Stratford, TX in 1956 where she raised 3 daughters, who survive her; Natalie Engelbrecht Munson & husband Tim of Oklahoma City, OK; Jeanne Engelbrecht Bell & husband Billy of Stratford, TX and Valerie Engelbrecht & husband Dave Parker of Oklahoma City, OK. Doreen is also survived by her loving husband Alfred Hambrick of Oklahoma City, OK, and her brother Dennis Elder & wife Donna of Rochester, WA. Doreen truly cherished all of her grandchildren: Chris Bell & wife Katie of Oklahoma City, OK; Mandi Haynes & husband Chris of Lubbock, TX; Adam Bell & wife Mika of Stratford, TX; Brady Bell of Corvallis, WA and Hannah Parker of Oklahoma City, OK; as well as six great grandchildren: Trever, Addison & McKenzie Bell, Timothy & Lindsay Haynes and Kora Bell. The family would like to recognize Leslie McNally, long time trusted caregiver & friend to Doreen. Doreen was a lifelong voracious reader, & a ferocious shopper. She was extremely proud to have earned her Registered Nursing degree from Amarillo College in Amarillo, TX and West Texas State University in Canyon, TX. She worked for many years as a nurse at High Plains Baptist Hospital in Amarillo, TX. After retiring she and her husband lived in Benbrook, TX before moving to Oklahoma City. Doreen loved the Lord immensely and never missed an opportunity to give praise & glory to God. A graveside ceremony was officiated by Brother Todd Pylant on Tuesday May 27th at Laurel Land Memorial Park Cemetery, Ft. Worth, TX.
