Obituary

Donald Lynn Sullivan, 99 years, 6 months, and 10 days, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026. Born on December 31, 1926, in Atwood, Oklahoma, he was the son of R.C. and Bonnie (Blackburn) Sullivan.

At the age of 14, Don accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at First Baptist Church in Allen, Oklahoma. His faith became the foundation of his life. In April 1970, he joined Northwest Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, where he faithfully served as an ordained deacon and remained a devoted member for more than 56 years.

On May 10, 1947, Don married the love of his life, Betty Jane Bell. Together they built a life centered on faith, love, and family, sharing 68 wonderful years of marriage until Betty's passing on May 26, 2015. Their unwavering devotion to one another was an inspiration to all who knew them.

Don proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War, serving in the South Pacific. Prior to, and following his military service, he built a distinguished career in the banking industry in Oklahoma City. He began his banking career in 1947 and retired from Citizens National Bank in 1982 after 35 years of dedicated service.

A man of integrity and quiet service, Don became a 32nd Degree Mason in April 1952. He was a Perpetual Member of Siloam Lodge No. 276 in Oklahoma City and a devoted member of the India Shrine for more than 40 years. Throughout his life, he believed in serving others, leading not with words but by faithful example.

Above all, Don treasured his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and an incredibly proud Papa to his grandson, Kennedy. Nothing brought him greater joy than his family. His wisdom, kindness, gentle spirit, and steady presence will be deeply missed.

Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Betty Jane Sullivan.

He is survived by his daughters, Cindy Sullivan and Carla Sullivan; his beloved grandson, Kennedy Sullivan; and several special nieces and nephews who held a cherished place in his heart.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 16 at Northwest Baptist Church, 3030 NW 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. A private interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Oklahoma City.

Don lived a life marked by unwavering faith, humble service, and steadfast love. We rejoice in knowing he has heard the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant," and is now reunited with the love of his life, Betty, in the presence of his Savior. His legacy of faith, devotion, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him.
