Dona Sue
Pratt
Feb 20, 1946 — May 10, 2025
Dona Pratt was lovingly welcomed into eternity by her parents, Charles and Allie Ryel; her cherished husband of 25 years, Charles Sterkel, whose memory she held dear; and her husband of 5 years, Bill Pratt, who brought joy to her later life.
Dona was known for her vibrant spirit and heart full of love. She enjoyed traveling, especially trips to the casino, and proudly cheered on her favorite football team, the Kansas City Chiefs. Known for her love of bright colors, she lit up every room she entered. Her home was especially magical during Christmas, decorated elaborately to create lasting memories for her family.
She is survived by her son, Shane May, and daughter-in-law, Lori May; her daughters, Michelle Parker and son-in-law Bob Parker, and Brandi Smith and son-in-law Louis Smith. Dona also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Brock, Selene, Chase, Dalton, Ishmael, Trevor, Kiana, Carson, and Ezra; great-granddaughter Harper; her brother, Tommy Ryel; her sister, Norma Bellamy; and her sweet dog, Rocky. She will also be remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A true Southern cook, Dona had a gift for bringing people together through her food. Her homemade stuffing, porcupine balls, and mashed potatoes were just a few of the comforting dishes that filled both hearts and bellies.
Above all, Dona loved her family fiercely. Her strength, laughter, and warmth will never be forgotten. Her memory will live on in every holiday celebration, every shared family meal, and every cheer for the Chiefs.
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, May 15th with a viewing from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service. The family will be present from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM.
Feel free to come in your bright attire—she would have loved that.
