Don H. Eckel, 89, of Bethany, Oklahoma passed away on June 18th, 2017. He was born on May 24th, 1928 in Oklahoma City to William O. Eckel and Bernice Mae (Leach) Eckel. Don graduated from Oklahoma City Central High School where he learned the printing trade. Don worked at several printing companies in Oklahoma City and at a young age became one of the partners in Universal Typographers. In 1968, Don went into business for himself and started Don Eckel Typesetting where he worked well into his golden years. On June 24th, 1956, Don married LaRhue Eckel and they were married for over 50 years until LaRhues passing. Together they had two children, Jon Eckel and Lance Eckel. Don was a longtime member of Western Oaks Christian Church and was a member of the Masonic Day Lodge where he served as Tyler. Don was preceded in death by his parents, William O. Eckel and Bernice Mae (Leach) Eckel, his brother, William Eugene (Gene) Eckel, his wife, LaRhue Eckel, and his grandson, Brad Eckel. Don is survived by his sons, Jon Eckel of Bethany, OK, and Lance Eckel (Becky) of Cordova, TN, and his granddaughter, Julie Eckel of Nashville, TN. Visitation will be held Friday June 23rd from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home, 3925 N Asbury, Bethany, OK. Graveside service will be at 10:00am Saturday, June 24th at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 8701 NW Expressway, Oklahoma City.
