Obituary

Don Adam Carley, 85, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 5, 2024 in Oklahoma City.

Don was born on February 27, 1939 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Nathaniel Loy and Cora Bell Yocham Carley. He graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1957, where he was class president, on student council, was delegate to Oklahoma Boys State, outstanding student his senior year, and band president. He played the clarinet and could sing beautifully.

He came to Bethany Nazarene College in 1957, graduation in 1961, and received a full-ride scholarship to Oklahoma State University where he received his Master degree in chemistry with high honors in 1964.

Don gave his life to Christ at seven years of age. He was lifelong member of the Church of the Nazarene, where he was always active. He served as church board secretary and finance chairman, Sunday School teacher and Superintendent, music director, Caravan leader, and Cub Scout Pack Master. He often led singing and sang specials in the Prayer and Praise service on Wednesday nights at BFC. He was a Christian gentleman who always exhibited sincerity and honesty.

Don met his wife, Linda Lou Jones, in 1957 during their freshman year at Bethany Nazarene College. The were married on August 29, 1959 in Monett, Missouri. They became the proud parents of Lea Ann, Don "Donnie" Adam II, and twins Alan Dean and Anita Gail. They moved to Texas in 1964 and enjoyed living and raising their children on the Gulf Coast for 40 years.

He worked for Texaco for 29 years at their Port Authur, Texas Research Laboratories and 11 years in Corporate Purchasing in Houston. He retired after 40 years of faithful service and was the holder of four U.S. Patents in grease making technology.

Don's hobby was woodworking and he made many pieces of furniture for family and friends. They were always beautiful and heavy. They children always said "They are hurricane proof." He always planted a yearly garden that he was very proud of, though he never boasted about it.

Don enjoyed traveling with his wife, Linda, all over the world. They made many overseas trips for the Nazarene Church through the Work and Witness projects. They also traveled for Texaco and visited their oldest daughter and her family while they served in the U.S. Military.

In 2005, they moved to Oklahoma City to be near their children. Don is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Lea Ann and husband, Grant Sattler, of Fairbanks, AK, Donnie and wife, Cheryl Carley, of Bethany, OK, Anita and husband, Steve Feland, of Yukon, OK. He has 8 grandchildren; Anna Sattler Krenzke, Marcus Sattler, Grace Sattler Alvarado, Seth Carley, Emma Carley Hall, Kayla Feland Zerby, Curtis Feland, and Macy Feland Swart; 9 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Son, Alan Dean, and brother, Richard Carley.

The Memorial Service will be held at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene, on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. in the church foyer. The service will be livestreamed and may be viewed on this obituary page.
