Obituary

Dillard W. Moore was born July 29th, 1949, in Beaver, OK, to parents Luther Willard "Jim" and Florence Beulah (Murphy) Moore. Dillard is the sixth of seven sons, sharing a birthday with his brother Harold, who was 11 years older. Dillard joined the church triumphant on June 18, 2021, following a long fight with cancer. Dillard attended Laverne High School and studied briefly at Panhandle State University before joining the US Navy in 1969. After honorably serving in Vietnam, Dillard returned to Oklahoma, earned a degree in Accounting from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, and celebrated the birth of his daughter, Desiree, and son, Dax. Dillard enjoyed working as an accountant in the Oklahoma City area, especially his work at New Hope United Methodist Church before retiring in 2019. Dillard became a Christian at a Bill Glass revival in 1989. After that life-changing event, he was always active in his local church, especially the Walk to Emmaus program. Dillard served as a Lay Leader and later was elected to the Board of Directors for Pioneer Country Walk to Emmaus. It was at a Walk to Emmaus gathering that Dillard met his wife, Diane. They were married January 8, 1994. Dillard also adopted Dianes son, Jim. In the Navy, Dillard served aboard the USS Terrell County, LST-49, and the USS Juneau, LPD-10, as a Boatswain Mate focusing on refilling operations, including jet fuel and Agent Orange, for helicopters and river boats. Dillard felt these experiences widened his horizons and considered his shipmates a "band of brothers". Dillard valued reconnecting at annual reunions, telling sea stories and reminiscing about their adventures. Dillard was known for his sense of humor, best seen when he was "winning" at cards. He loved sports and being with his family, especially when he could cook for them. He was always quick to grab a tool and fix anything that was broken. He loved helping people and serving the Lord. If Dillard had a message, it was love God, follow Him, and love people. Dillard was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Florence; brothers, George and wife Suk Nyun, Harold, Alfred, Dean and wife DeeAnn; nephew, Harold Ray; and niece, Makenzie. Dillard is survived by his wife of 27 years, Diane; daughter, Desiree Moore; sons, Jim Farrow and wife Andi, Dax Moore and wife Suzanne; and grandchildren, JD, Mikey, and Timmy Farrow, Gareth Moore, Jackson and Myka Koeneke-Moore; as well as eleven nieces and nephews, and many close friends that he considered family.
