Dessie Lea Evans, 82, of Edmond OK, passed from this earth to her heavenly home on November 16, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 18, 1936 in Perkins, Oklahoma to Myrl and Margaret Knox. She married Vaughn Evans on June 2, 1957. They enjoyed 26 years of marriage and had four sons, of whom she was very proud.
Dessies sweet spirit and love for Christ touched so many as she cared for others throughout her life. She was a diligent student of Gods word. In the midst of hardship, she never lost sight of the goodness of the Lord. She loved children and enjoyed her position as a teacher at Cathedral of Praise World Outreach Center. She went on to become an in-home caregiver for the elderly. Dessie was very creative and artistic and always had an eye for design. Although dementia stole the latter part of Dessies life, it was not able to steal her sweet smile and humble spirit. She loved spending time with all of her children and grandchildren, attending family dinners, and loved singing along to old Hymns that never left her memory.
Dessie was preceded in death by her parents, Myrl and Margaret Knox; husband, Vaughn Evans; sister, Betty Smith; and brothers, Myrl Jr., Benjamin, Richard and David Knox.
She is survived by her sons, Evan of Bakersfield, CA, Greg and his wife Amelia of Carney, OK, Matt and his wife Allyson of Edmond, OK and John and his wife Kim of Oklahoma City, OK; her grandchildren, Nathan, Haley, Ryan, Emily Romance and husband Cyrus, Amber, Macey Poff and husband Bryan, Matyson, Brynn, Franklin and Abigail; and great-grandchildren, Danni Weber and William Romance.
Dessie also leaves behind her surviving sister, Eloise Miller and brother, Arthur Knox, as well as numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
The family is forever grateful to the beautiful care that Dessie received in the home of her son, Matt and his wife, Allyson during the last 11 years of Dessies life. Special thanks to Donna See, Renae Martin, Shay Lewis, Gayla Roberts and Humanity Hospice. Their tender care of Dessie will forever be a blessing to her sons and their families.
