Dennis Lee
Shelton
Apr 8, 1956 — Oct 23, 2024
Dennis Lee Shelton, 68, of Bethany, Oklahoma was welcomed to his heavenly home on October 23, 2024. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky to Anna Geraldine (Minyard) Shelton and Windle Lee Shelton on April 8, 1956. He spent the last half of his life in Bethany, Oklahoma, close to his children and grandchildren.
Dennis graduated from Blue Valley High School, Stilwell, Kansas, in 1974 and attended Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas, to study criminal justice and complete training at the police academy. Throughout his career in law enforcement, he served as a police officer, deputy sheriff, and held roles in security for Oklahoma Heart Hospital and Mercy Hospital and most recently worked for ROI.
Dennis was adored by family, friends, and coworkers. He was a protector and a prankster. He was a proud grandfather and his greatest joy was attending his grandchildren's ballgames and special events. Wherever he went, you would hear him bragging about his children and grandkids. He enjoyed bike riding, talking about politics, going to the shooting range, golfing, and playing racquetball. Dennis was a man of faith, and loved God and this country. He attended Faith Church often and via online services.
Dennis is survived by his children, Kristi (Fonz) Borjas, Kelsey Shelton, Samuel Shelton, Hannah Shelton; his mother, Geraldine Whitsitt; sisters, Dale Shelton and Gwen Benegas (Doug); grandchildren, Fonzy Borjas, Aidan Borjas, Avandar Borjas, Anna Borjas, Oliver Hanna, and Oden Hanna; niece, Madison Snell; and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
Dennis was proceeded in death by his father, Windle Shelton; nephew, Ryan Snell; and his grandparents.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 2nd at 10:00 AM at Faith Church, 12201 Warwick Drive, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
