Obituary

Demoia Smith Knowles was born May 9, 1937 to Jack and Maybelle Smith. She was called back to her Heavenly Father April 12, 2021, from natural causes. Demoia was born in Snowball, AR and she was a Snowball Eagle (was Homecoming Queen) and a Marshall Bobcat. She married the love of her life, Roy Knowles, on August 3, 1957 and remained married until his passing on February 20, 2016 (just short of 60 years!). Demoia was one of 13 children, so there was never a dull moment with many stories of laughter, fun, and fights from the tales she told us of her childhood growing up in Snowball. She married Roy a year after school and moved shortly thereafter to Wichita, KS. While in Wichita, Roy & Demoia added Mark and Lana to the family. After a brief stay in Wichita, they moved their family to Oklahoma City and added Matthew. Demoia held numerous jobs, but her best and most rewarding job was raising her 3 children. Demoias greatest joy came from spending time with her family and spoiling her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was always giving with her time and loved sharing stories to all the kids in her life. Demoia was preceded in death by her parents, Jack & Maybelle; husband, Roy; siblings, TM Smith, Hazel Blair, Modean Nimmick, Geraldean Ragland, Buck Smith, Verna Mae McDaniel, Pete Smith, Don Smith, and Doug Smith. She is survived by her 3 children (all of Oklahoma City), Mark Knowles and wife Merry, Lana Guy, and Matthew Knowles & wife Shauna; 6 grandchildren (all of Oklahoma City), Cory Knowles, Josh Knowles & wife Currie, Miciah Guy, Jonathan Guy, Olivia Knowles, and Ava Knowles; and great-grandchildren, Kyle & Maylie Knowles, Brinley & Braxton Knowles, and Carlie Zaloudik; and siblings, Jackie Smith of Marshall, AR, Maxine Turano of Yuba City, CA, and Woody Smith of Marshall, AR; along with too many nieces & nephews to list (13 siblings make a long list you know). Demoia will be desperately missed by those of us that knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers please send consider sending a donation to the American Cancer Society in her honor. A service celebrating Demoias life will be held at 2:30pm on Sunday, April 18 at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service, 3925 N. Asbury, Bethany, OK. 405-495-4363. .
